The Global Organization for EPA and DHA Omega-3s (GOED), Salt Lake City, UT, welcomed Gerard Bannenberg, PhD, to the position of director of compliance & scientific outreach.
Dr. Bannenberg will be responsible for overseeing GOED’s quality programs and healthcare outreach, including GOED’s Fats of Life health practitioner website and newsletter. He was most recently with Solutex, Madrid, Spain as scientific officer and had served as secretary/treasurer on GOED's Board of Directors.
He is also co-founder of the European Workshop on Lipid Mediators. He received his undergraduate degree in Bio-Pharmaceutical Sciences at Leiden University, The Netherlands and a PhD in Molecular Toxicology from the Institute of Environmental Medicine, Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden.
He is also an affiliate member at the Center for Experimental Therapeutics & Reperfusion Injury, Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain
Medicine, Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston.
GOED executive director Adam Ismail commented on the appointment saying, “We are very excited to have Gerard on our team. He has lots of experience reviewing and writing scientific papers as well as doing method development. This strong science and analytical background will help GOED continue to achieve our objectives and meeting our growing membership’s needs.”
