Alpha Packaging, ST. Louis, MO, is completing the installation of three additional blow molding machines, which will culminate in a total of 20 machine installations in 2012. The additions and upgrades support Alpha’s strategy of offering duplicate blow sets across its North American manufacturing footprint, so customers can order bottles from locations closest to their fillers and expansion of its ability to capture new growth across key segments. While some of the new machines replaced older, less efficient equipment, Alpha will have a net gain of 12 machines and $35 million in additional capacity compared to where it started the year. By December 31, Alpha’s manufacturing footprint will have a total of 180 machines operating at seven North American manufacturing sites and one plant in Europe, with more than $270 million in capacity.
