Europharma, Green Bay, WI, has introduced Vectomega, an omega dietary supplement derived from salmon. Using a patented process call “Vectorization,” the omega 3 fatty acids are naturally attached to phospholipids, enhancing the absorption, according to the company. Vectomega is the result of a collaboration of the French government and the University of Nancy (France) for a research endeavor. In 2001, the French government, in conjunction with the National Interprofessional Office for Sea Products and Aquaculture, asked researchers to investigate potential uses for salmon. This governmental research project gave rise to the patented Vectorization process and Vectomega, which is distributed in the U.S. by Europharma.
