Siba Raychaudhuri, MD, UC Davis researcher, presented a portfolio of joint-health research on UC-II, including published clinical data, at the Federation of Clinical Immunology Societies (FOCIS) 2010 meeting in June. Dr. Raychaudhuri is also the corresponding author of a published clinical study demonstrating that UC-II, from InterHealth Nutraceuticals, was more than twice as effective as glucosamine + chondroitin. The presentation was titled, “Undenatured Type II Collagen (UC-II) in the Treatment of Osteoarthritis.”
“Not only is the clinical data on UC-II impressive, it also works in quite a unique way to inhibit joint cartilage damage, allowing the body to rebuild healthy joints,” said Dr. Raychaudhuri. “UC-II contains undentaured type II collagen, which reportedly aids in reducing the destruction of collagen within the joints, helps to reduce inflammation in the joints and improves joint flexibility.”
UC-II brand undenatured type II collagen is derived from chicken sternum cartilage for joint health by patented, low-temperature, non-enzymatic manufacturing processes that ensure the presence of active epitopes—giving UC-II its unique mechanism of action and increased clinical efficacy.
