According to recent study results, Frutarom’s Neuravena, an extract derived from a proprietary strain of wild green oat, was found to reduce the average number of cigarettes smoked per day.
The study was conducted with a group of male Japanese volunteers who smoked an average of nearly one pack (20 cigarettes) per day. They received three 300 mg capsules of Neuravena wild green oat herb extract daily for 28 consecutive days in an open-application trial.
Subjects reported the number of cigarettes smoked plus their self-assessed mental condition each day. Participants’ exhaled breaths were analyzed for carbon monoxide (CO) concentration to verify a reduction in smoking. Self-reported daily tobacco consumption significantly decreased by approximately 10 cigarettes per day—from 19 down to 9 cigarettes. Exhaled CO levels also decreased. Neuravena extract was found to improve both general and verbal memories as well. For further information: www.frutarom
