A recent study demonstrates that ISO III soy protein from Kerry Ingredients and Flavours may improve satiety by optimizing gut peptide response and increasing gut transit time.
This randomized crossover human intervention study involved 11 subjects and examined the effect of different proteins on satiety in an iso-energetic setting. Participants consumed a standardized beverage containing 48 grams of ISO III soy protein or a practical protein-free control. Blood samples were taken at regular intervals for 150 minutes and validated visual analogue scale questionnaires were completed throughout the day.
Results indicate ISO III soy protein has a significant influence on decreasing hunger feelings compared to control. For example, the ISO III soy protein showed decreased levels of ghrelin, a peptide associated with hunger.
