A majority of Americans don’t know much about probiotics, according to a recent survey conducted by Opinion Research Corporation for Ganeden Biotech, Cleveland, OH. Still, they spent more than $1 billion on products containing probiotics over the past year. The national survey found that 85% of Americans know little to nothing about probiotics, with just 15% of respondents saying they were somewhat or very familiar with them. Two-thirds of respondents had never heard the term “probiotics.”
