Solbar Industries has launched Solpro 957, a low-sodium 90% isolated soy protein. Solpro 957 has already been approved in the U.S. and Europe for two key market segments, bakery and ready-to-drink beverages. Solbar maintains that it can reduce typical sodium levels in its soy isolate to 300 mg/100 grams (3000 ppm). Typical sodium levels in soy isolates are estimated at 11,000-13,000 ppm. According to the company, market targets include processed meats, convenience foods, instant soups, bars, cereals and beverages.
