Gourmetceuticals, Big Horn, WY, will donate functional food ingredients to Sheridan College, Sheridan, WY, for a collaborative project between several departments. Students in the Culinary Arts program will develop new functional foods using two ingredients: GLPH-1—a plant-derived immune booster shown to help reduce inflammation—and PPL-240—a plant-derived antioxidant shown to reduce cell damage caused by free radicals. Students in the college’s Meat and Food Science department will evaluate each product through a series of taste tests, while Economics students use the results to evaluate market potential, price points, and supply and demand, along with potential profits for a company.
