The American Herbal Pharmacopoeia (AHP) has released an electronic PDF of its newest monograph: Feverfew Aerial Parts (Tanacetum parthenium). Standards of analysis, quality control and therapeutics are included, as well as an AHP-Verified Botanical Reference Standard. Feverfew is an herb that has been used traditionally as an antipyretic, and it is most commonly used for the prevention and treatment of migraine headache. In addition, feverfew has also been used in the prevention and treatment of asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, painful menstrual periods and inflammatory skin conditions such as psoriasis, toothache and insect bites. AHP-Verified Botanical Reference Standards are reference materials that are botanically, physically and chemically characterized. These are essential in laboratory testing of botanicals because they enable quality control personnel and scientists to confirm the authenticity of botanical samples.
