Roquette: Making Life Easier
Founded in 1933 as a starch and starch derivatives producer, Roquette Inc., Lestrem, France, has a long history in food and pharmaceutical production, with its ingredients also being a natural fit for nutraceutical applications. Roquette’s presence in the nutraceuticals industry can be seen through its quality fibers, proteins, and mineral supplements, as well as its polyols and different carbohydrates. The company’s commercial network of subsidiaries and agents in Europe, Asia, the U.S. and Africa assure customers worldwide security of supply for its products and services. In fact, the U.S. FDA and European authorities regularly audit the company’s manufacturing facilities to guarantee consistent compliance and reliability according to the highest international quality requirements.
Building successful relationships with customers is key for Roquette. An in-house team of qualified scientists are readily available to provide expertise in designing formulations for injectables (enteral and parenteral solutions); tablets obtained by direct compression or wet granulation; syrups, suspensions, granules and sachets; toothpastes and mouthwashes; OTC and nutraceuticals as fiber sources and mineral supplements; and film coating.
Roquette has made quite a name for itself as a specialist in excipients for injectables and dialysis solutions. The well-known pyrogen-free dextrose monohydrate Lycadex PF has been produced for over 20 years and is used by a majority of companies involved in the production of injectable solutions and infusions. Other products in this range include pyrogen-free polyols (Pearlitol PF mannitol, Neosorb PF sorbitol and Xylisorb PF xylitol) and Kleptose HPB, pyrogen-free hydroxypropyl beta-cyclodextrin. Continuing the tradition of safe and reliable solutions for dialysis and parenteral applications, Roquette recently introduced pharma grade lactate and gluconate salts.
As a result of its comprehensive research in polyols, Roquette also offers a broad polyol excipient range providing excellent chemical stability with good taste, sugar-free sweetness and oral health benefits. Products such as Pearlitol crystalline mannitol and granulated mannitol, Neosorb sorbitol, Maltisorb maltitol, Xylisorb xylitol, and Lycasin maltitol syrups have the potential to be used in numerous applications.
As Roquette sees the demand for novel functional excipients and health supplements continue to grow steadily, the company is prepared to meet the challenge thanks to its longstanding track record in excipients and actives innovation. This can be verified in such novel products as Pearlitol mannitol for outstanding diluent-binder for solid dosage forms; Kleptose cyclodextrins for molecular encapsulation/solubilization; Lycoat breakthrough polymers developed for fast and simple aqueous film coating; and Lycatab Mineral utilized for mineral supplementation in nutraceutical and OTC applications.
To further support the thriving crossover between food and pharma, Roquette most recently launched two new ingredients. Nutralys, an all-natural protein from yellow peas, is a functional protein that can be used in nutritional shakes and nutritional bars, among other applications. Nutralys is non-GMO and not listed on the allergen list. The company has also debuted a new soluble fiber called Nutriose, which is specifically geared toward nutraceutical formulation and clinical enteral nutrition. Roquette introduced Nutriose in conjunction with major product events across the world, all of which have been met with positive feedback.
It’s clear to see that Roquette has set its sights on the nutraceuticals market. The company has made it a priority to establish a long-term connection with the industry by increasing its new ingredients and services. And Roquette certainly has high hopes that this partnership will yield pioneering formulations in the years to come.
