MM2 Group, Inc.’s (Livingston, NJ) wholly-owned NY-based subsidiary Genotec Nutritionals, Inc. has introduced a new diet product called Sugarest. Sugarest is a minty tablet that dissolves in the mouth and temporarily blocks and neutralizes the sweet-taste receptors of the taste buds. According to the company, consumers can place a tablet in their mouth for two minutes, making sugary foods and sweets lose their taste and appeal. The effect lasts for 20-30 minutes, long enough for a dieter to defeat their sugar cravings and lose their desire for sweet, but fattening foods. Genotec also claims Sugarest may be used to help individuals stop smoking because cigarettes contain sweeteners, including licorice. After using Sugarest, a smoker will dislike the taste of a cigarette and will not want to smoke until such time as the effect of Sugarest has worn off. Sugarest is a natural product made from an exclusive Genotec formula, which includes the Indian herb Gymnema sylvestre.
