Cerise Nutraceuticals Receives Grant Approval
Cerise Nutraceuticals, Traverse City, MI, has received a $100,000 grant from the Julian-Stille Value Added Agricultural Fund under the Michigan Department of Agriculture. The grant will fund research and marketing for nutraceuticals made from red tart cherries. Nearly two decades of “cherryology” preclinical research have confirmed the beneficial properties of compounds in Cerise products, including anti-inflammatory effects of the 17 antioxidants found in cherries. Cerise is currently negotiating a contract with the Central Michigan University Research Corporation (CMURC) for a research project. CMURC scientists are working on similar projects with the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Bethesda, MD.
