Akzo Nobel’s Iron Fortification Ingredient Receives GRAS Status
Akzo Nobel, Amersfoort, The Netherlands, has received self-affirmed GRAS (generally recognized as safe) status for its iron fortification ingredient Ferrazone by the FDA’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition, Office of Food Additive Safety. An independent panel of scientific experts determined that Ferrazone is safe for its intended use as a nutrient in soy, fish, teriyaki, hoisin and sweet and sour sauces.
