Mitsubishi Awarded GRAS Status for Sucrose Esters
Mitsubishi Kagaku Foods, Tokyo, Japan, has obtained self-determined GRAS status for its sucrose ester tablet lubricants in dietary supplement applications. Sucrose esters are produced from sucrose and fatty acids derived from vegetable oil. Compared with the commonly used magnesium stearate, sucrose esters demonstrate ideal tablet dissolution and disintegration and in some conditions they are easier to use in processing. Sucrose esters do not react with other active ingredients.
