DNP to Meet Increasing Demand for Shugr

Published October 1, 2005
Health Sciences Group, Inc., Los Angeles, CA, will be increasing shipments of Shugr to its raw material distributor, DNP International Co., Inc., Irvine, CA, to meet the growing demand. Shugr is a natural, zero-calorie sweetener made from sugars that occur naturally in fruits, vegetables, corn and dairy products. Erythritol is a naturally-occurring sugar commonly found in melon, grapes, mushrooms and soy; tagatose comes from dairy products, but does not affect people who are lactose intolerant—it also provides an added health benefit because it is considered a prebiotic fiber; and maltodextrin is derived from corn sugar, which is non-GMO and gluten-free. A trace amount of sucralose is added to give Shugr its high note. All of these ingredients are generally recognized as safe (GRAS).
