EAS Changes Bar Labels
EAS, Golden, CO, has launched a new “impact carb” information section on all of its reduced carbohydrate nutrition bar labels to help consumers quickly identify bars that will have a minimal impact on their blood glucose levels. The new labels will appear on EAS’ AdvantEdge® Carb Control® and Myoplex® Carb Sense™. The new labels were designed to comply with FDA’s interpretation of the Nutrition Labeling and Education Act (NLEA), instructing all makers of low carbohydrate bars to include the carbohydrate content of low glycemic ingredients—those used to lower sugar content and improve texture, like glycerin—in the total carbohydrate count on the nutrition facts panel.
