Of Babies And Buyers’ Guides
Sometimes it’s hard to separate your work life from your home life. For all those in the nutraceuticals industry who put in 12 hour days and travel globally (over many weekends) to grow their business, this comes as no surprise. But there comes a time that one area of your life looms larger than another out of sheer necessity. As we close our second annual buyers’ guide issue, I also get set to go on maternity leave until the end of the year, so obviously I’m preoccupied with bigger (or you could say smaller) things than the nutraceuticals industry right now. I approached our early October deadline with apprehension, worrying that the Buyers’ Guide wouldn’t be finished before my baby decided to arrive (there was about a week leeway in between our deadline and my due date), but now it looks like Mother Nature is on my side. Associate editor Rebecca Madley did a great job putting the buyers’ guide together—it’s been her “baby” for the past few months, although she could probably think of some other well-deserved adjectives to describe it—and we proudly present the updated version of what we like to think of as a leading industry resource for supplier information.
We’ve made this year’s guide more user-friendly, with color-coded tabs at the top of each section; these tabs also let you know exactly what listings are on each page. In addition, we’ve added a handy reference section at the beginning of the guide that details each cross reference category and its corresponding page number.
In keeping with the baby theme, we also in the past few weeks gave birth to a “baby” of another sort—a brand new magazine at Rodman Publishing called Dietitian’s Edge. Since we launched Nutraceuticals World two years ago, we heard again and again from dietitians who wanted a magazine similar in scope but dedicated to their needs. Dietitian’s Edge fills that niche and promises to provide good science-based information on the growing nutraceuticals industry so dietitians will be more informed—and hopefully more open—to recommending nutraceuticals to patients and clients. If you’d like more information about Dietitian’s Edge, please contact us.
And enjoy our Buyers’ Guide; we expect you’ll want to keep it close at hand as a reference throughout the next year. See you in 2001.
