Job Description:
Objectives of the Position:
The QA Microbiologist will be responsible for performing microbiological analysis of raw materials, finished products and other samples as required. The microbiologist is also responsible to coordinate all microbiological testing related activities with other microbiologists and lab assistant/technicians in a timely manner. The Microbiologist is responsible for reporting any OOS or other issues to QA Manager or Coordinator in a timely manner and follow direction as provided.
DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
Test raw materials and finished products for microbial contamination and other microbial tests
Prepare and sterilize culture media reagents as required
Timely completion of documentation and reports related to microbiological testing
Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment.
Validate procedures used in the micro lab
Participate in QA related investigation as assigned by Manager
Ensure adherence with GMPs and SOPs for all activities in microbiology lab and ensure audit readiness of microbiology lab
Ensure reporting any OOS or issues in a timely manner to Supervisor or Manager
Provide assistance in training other microbiologists and lab assistant/technicians on microbiological techniques and procedures
Review of documentation – test results to assure material meets specifications.
Interact effectively with co-workers and management in order to resolve problems.
Microbiologists are responsible to produce high quality laboratory data.
Microbiologists are responsible for and empowered to stop an analysis that may produce poor quality results as required by ISO regulations.
Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Full time, non-exempt position in an office setting.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in written English
Computer literacy, with solid PC and software experience
Ability to lift a minimum of 30 lbs.
Strong ability to work independently and as a team member under the pressure of manufacturing
Experience:
A minimum of 2 /two/ years of experience in QC Microbiology in Food or Pharmaceutical industry
Knowledge of basic GMP and QA/QC for the food industry
Education:
Bachelor of Science in Microbiology (preferred) or related field
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous knowledge and understanding of Quality compliance
Previous experience working in a food manufacturing environment is highly desire
Bachelor's degree in Technical or Science discipline
