Intertek has a network of state-of-the-art laboratory facilities based in the US which provide cutting edge food testing and analysis services. Our team of experts can assist with all food, nutritional supplement, function/nutraceutical foods and ingredient testing requirements, including microbiology, molecular biological, chemical and biochemical testing of active ingredient analysis, nutritional analysis, shelf life testing, label reviews/validation, allergens, contaminants, method development, supplement product services, and cosmetics and natural cosmetics analytical services.
This position’s primary responsibility is to support broader North America’s Food business line with a primary focus on the diverse services provided by the Intertek Champaign lab. This position is responsible for developing business opportunities among the broad business areas such as nutritional/functional food, food safety, natural ingredients/natural supplements, nutraceuticals, and functional cosmetics/beauty products.
Responsibilities:
Develop business development strategies for the Champaign lab and other North America food analytical labs. This role will be collaborating with the other labs within the Intertek Global Life Sciences organization, particularly those in Regulatory Services and Chemical & Pharmaceutical services for integrated business opportunities.
Develop new key account relationships under the direction of Champaign lab management and North America Business Development leadership to support the service areas of the Champaign lab and the North America food business line.
Develop and execute, in conjunction with Champaign and North America Business Development management, his/her business development plan in line with growth strategy of the key growth areas such as cosmeceuticals, natural products, functional foods, food safety, and consumer healthcare products testing services.
Required Qualifications:
2-5 years of proven successful track in a Business Development role in laboratory services in one or several of the following industries: nutraceutical/supplements, functional foods/nutritional foods, ingredients, cosmoceutical/cosmetics, and chemical/consumer health.
Demonstrated ability to formulate relevant Business Development strategies, effective lead discovery, relationship development and success leading to major business projects in new business areas.
Familiar with the current major regulatory requirements for natural products, nutritional supplements, functional foods, food safety, and cosmoceutical products.
BS or MS in Food Science/Technology, Chemistry, Biology or Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Familiar with business development tools and database will be a significant plus.
Demonstrated ability for effective technical/commercial presentation and tendering proposal development.
Communicate effectively with clients and internal organizations of diverse technical and management backgrounds both vertically and horizontally in support of Business Development objectives.
This position may be a field (home)-based position, ideally located in a major metro area in the Mid-West for easy access to clients. Frequent travel for client meetings and trade shows are required for this role.
