Since 2005, David Frumkin has been director of business development and marketing for the Life Sciences Research Organization (LSRO) a non-profit based in Bethesda, MD. LSRO provides scientifically objective analysis of important topics in health and biology through the use of expert review panels, workshops and meetings. LSRO conducts peer review of research producing more than 400 widely accepted published and confidential authoritative reports. Prior to LSRO David had more than 15 years of corporate sales management and brand management marketing experience with Kimberly-Clark Corporation and Menasha Corporation having been based in Chicago, St. Louis, Atlanta and Nashville.
I met with David during his recent trip to San Francisco.
Health E-Insights: LSRO has compiled an impressive network of world-class experts and consultants. How do you locate all those science experts?
Mr. Frumkin: Being located within the Washington DC beltway has its benefits with the abundance of current and former FDA, USDA and NIH personnel. In addition, our historical lineage to FASEB, the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology enables LSRO to routinely tap the more than 100,000 global scientists that are members of the organization.
Health E-Insights: What’s the most rewarding project you have worked on at LSRO?
Mr. Frumkin: With a corporate mission to advance science in the public’s best interest, perhaps a more recent project on the subject of Equol, Soy and Menopause Research fulfills that question. The conference sponsored by Otsuka Pharmaceutical and Pharmavite brought together some of the world’s most recognized experts on this topic. The conference was a success achieving the sponsor’s objective, an exchange of research helpful to improving the lives of women around the world.
Health E-Insights: Your group recently published a paper on cholesterol findings. Any good news?
Mr. Frumkin: Yes, for those who enjoy eggs one might express a sigh of relief if you read the LSRO report. Our objective was to examine why other Western nations such as the United Kingdom and Canada differ from the United States in the dietary guidelines set regarding cholesterol. Additionally, the USDA and the American Egg Board empowered LSRO to facilitate and host a conference to examine where policy and science intersect on this subject.
Health E-Insights: What’s your favorite sport?
Mr. Frumkin: As a spectator, football. If playing, a round of golf with friends.
Health E-Insights: Do you have a favorite weekend activity?
Mr. Frumkin: Visiting a winery and experiencing what they have to offer.
