According to a report published in HerbalGram, sales of herbal dietary supplements in the U.S. reached a total estimated figure of nearly $5.6 billion in 2012.
ConsumerLab.com recently tested various green and whole food supplements for heavy metals, microbes, and pesticides, and found only five of the 11 products selected met its quality standards.
In some products ConsumerLab.com found a lot less protein and/or a lot more carbohydrates than expected, and even more alarming, some contained high qualities of lead.
